ArtsFairfax.org is getting a makeover! Access to submit new listings to our Artist Calls will be paused from May 7-19. Current listings and any listing submitted prior to May 6 by 11:59pm will be captured. Applicants are still able to view ArtsFairfax opportunities on Submittable at ArtsFairfax.Submittable.com. ArtsFairfax account users will be able to add new content to ArtsFairfax.org beginning May 19.

Calling All Local Artists!

ArtsFairfax posts opportunities to apply for new commissions, various art performances, or exhibition opportunities from across the country, throughout the region, or from within the County.

ArtsFairfax, in partnership with the Mount Vernon District Office, Fairfax County, seeks an artist or artist team to design, fabricate, and install a permanent sculpture at the Lorton Police Station and Animal Shelter that will signal the site’s offering of hospitality, safety, and community engagement. This location offers visibility and a unique opportunity to create impactful public art that will represent a point of pride at a high traffic Fairfax County facility.

The selected artwork should:

  • Welcome visitors to the police station and animal shelter
  • Serve as a local landmark for community gathering and engagement
  • Reflect the values of the Lorton Community

A Vision of Nature: American Women Artists American Women Artists is pleased to announce its ninth museum exhibition as part of the 25 in 25 campaign, an initiative to have 25 museum shows for its members over 25 years. A Vision of Nature: American Women Artists will be exhibited at the National Sporting Library & Museum and will include 2D and 3D works following these themes commiserate with the museum’s collection and mission: A Love of the Land, Sporting, Animals and Wildlife, and Country Pursuits.May 12, 2025
Midwest Nice Art: nice;03 Midwest Nice Art is excited to announce the opening of the call for art for “nice;03,” the third iteration of the annual national call hosted on the Northern State University campus in JFAC Gallery. This is an open call with no theme or medium restrictions. Artists must be over 18 and in the United States.May 20, 2025
Glen Echo Park Request for Exhibition Proposals The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture requests exhibition proposals from artists, organizations, and curators for the Popcorn Gallery, Stone Tower Gallery, and Park View Gallery at Glen Echo Park for the calendar year 2026. The mission of the Glen Echo Park Partnership Galleries is to showcase the work of diverse artists, including resident artists at Glen Echo Park and artists from the greater Washington, D.C. area, and to exhibit quality art by artists who represent a broad spectrum of the region, with diverse backgrounds, and working in a wide range of artistic media. Workhouse Arts Center Open Call for 2027 Exhibitions Workhouse Arts Center’s open call for proposals facilitates submissions from parties interested in having a solo or group exhibition at Workhouse Arts Center in Building W-16, in the McGuire Woods, Vulcan, and Muse Galleries. Applications are reviewed in January and June of each calendar year.June 8, 2025
MPAartfest 2025 Call for Entries McLean Project for the Arts currently seeks submissions for the 18th Annual MPAartfest, a one-day juried fine art and craft show and sale featuring the work of more than 40 local and regional visual artists. This year’s festival will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm in McLean Central Park. Artists retain 100% of in-park sales.June 16, 2025
Historic Manassas Banner Art Competition Started in 2015, the Historic Manassas Inc. Banner Art Project is a collaboration between the City of Manassas and Historic Manassas Inc. to showcase the work of local artists who may submit up to three (3) pieces to the juried competition. The winning pieces of artwork will be printed on individual street banners and displayed in Historic Downtown Manassas from February through November. This year’s theme invites artists to explore what “home” means to them. September 1, 2025

Community Arts Use at Capital One Hall

ArtsFairfax partners with Capital One Hall to make the venue’s 1500-seat performance hall, 250-seat black box theatre, and classroom spaces available for community use at subsidized rates. This opportunity is designed for arts programming by Fairfax County nonprofit arts groups, Fairfax County agencies, and Fairfax County Public Schools.

Exhibit at Tysons Corner Center

ArtsFairfax has partnered with Macerich, the owners and developers of Tysons Corner Center, to showcase local artists, artist teams, and arts organizations from Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the City of Falls Church. This unique collaboration will enable the 17 million annual visitors who explore Tysons Corner Center’s retail and entertainment offerings to discover the diversity, creativity, and quality of visual artists from the Fairfax region.
